Welcome to Bertin Corp., the US subsidiary of Bertin Technologies, a French engineering company with fifty years of experience. Created in 2011, Bertin Corp. aims to provide and develop innovative products in the fields of life science, healthcare, and military defense and we aim to share our expertise with R&D scientists and CBRN Defense Teams. We are an established leader in the field of CBRN threat detection and work closely with military organizations worldwide. We specialize in chemical and biological detection and offer equipment focused on meeting the war-fighter’s needs in the field.

Offering Advanced Solutions for Chemical and Biological Detection
Bertin Technologies has worked closely with Defense and Homeland Security sectors for half a century and brings this innovative technological experience to Bertin Corp. Bertin Corp offers complete solutions to military and civilian communities (soldiers, first responders, medical professionals, public health and emergency personnel) aimed at ensuring efficient and rapid chemical and biological threat detection.

Chemical threat detection - Second-Sight
Second Sight® MS is an infrared (IR) gas cloud detector, designed for chemical area surveillance in the open field and under harsh conditions. It has been designed for early warning and visualization of suspicious clouds that could pose a potential threat. The real time imaging feature shows localization of dangerous gases such as toxic industrial gases or warfare agents (nerve gases or vesicants). In the case of detection, an alarm is raised and real time visualization of the scene is available, thus allowing for efficient management of the chemical event. Find the right solution for chemicla threat detection at www.secondsight-gasdetection.com

Biological contamination control - Coriolis
The Coriolis product line includes a ruggedized bio-aerosol sampler dedicated to CBRN RECON teams or first responders. These units are suited for bio-surveillance and quick deployment in case of an event with bio-threat suspicion. They are efficient, portable and have been ruggedized for use in an unfamiliar environment. These products have been designed to collect large concentrations of aerosols in the breathable range of 0.5 to 10 μm, thus being more representative of the environment than traditional bio-aerosol samplers. Thanks to its ability to collect bio-aerosol particles into liquid format, this system can be used with rapid identification techniques (immunoassay, PCR, etc.) to provide an early warning of aerosolized biological warfare agents. Find the right solution for your air sampling needs at www.coriolis-airsampler.com.

Luminex Corporation is committed to supporting the federal government with cost-effective biological detection solutions.  Open-architecture xMAP® technology allows simultaneous detection of bacterial, viral, parasite, and toxin agents, in a highly flexible, multiplexed architecture capable of protein and nucleic acid assay formats. The xMAP suspension array technology enables multiplex identification of up to 500 analytes in a single reaction using small sample volumes. The microsphere technology platform offers expansion capability, wherein newly discovered agent threats could be added to an existing panel with relative ease by adding new microsphere sets coupled to specific detection moieties. In addition to high multiplexing, thousands of microspheres from each region are used to detect each target in a single mix, yielding significant improvements in statistical accuracy. With the recent introduction of the MAGPIX® system, an inherently robust platform that uses bead imaging technology, Luminex is able to better support missions that require field deployable systems. Luminex also develops Sample to Answer detection solutions that automate many of the manual processes typically used in the laboratory.  Luminex technology has been integrated into a wide range of biodetection capabilities, including autonomous environmental surveillance, medium and high throughput medical diagnostics, food safety screening, and critical infrastructure protection.

Research International, a high-technology company in suburban Seattle, Washington, develops, manufactures, and markets optical sensors and sensing systems. The company has a strong R&D orientation emphasizing optical, chemical and biological sensor systems and micromachining. Research International is especially adept at teaming with government or commercial organizations to take proof-of-principle bench technology and quickly convert it to production instrumentation. BIOIDENTIFICATION PRODUCTS BioHawk® 8-Channel Air Sampler and Bio-identification System The BioHawk is a portable 8-channel bioassay system with automated aerosol sample collection capability that is suitable for high-sensitivity monitoring of biological agents, toxins, explosives, and chemical contaminants. Assay results for the eight detection channels are typically available 10 to 15 minutes after liquid sample introduction. Sandwich format fluoroimmunoassays have been developed for a number of BW agents including: Bacillus anthracis, Francisella tularensis, Y. pestis F1 antigen, botulinium toxin, ricin andStraphylococcus enterotoxin B; other pathogens may also be targeted with relative ease. Up to 10 or more assays may be performed before discarding the system’s disposable assay coupon, reducing cost per assay. ASAP II Collection/Bio-identification System This system continuously monitors for the presence of aerosol biohazards and will identify biological agents ranging from protein toxins to whole cells and spores as frequently as every 15 to 30 minutes. It is an integration of Research International's proven SASS 2300 multiple-effect aerosol sampling technology combined with its RAPTOR four-channel bio-identification system. The ASAP II is typically provided with a small constant-temperature environmental enclosure that maximizes reagent life and unattended monitoring time or on request can be provided in component form for minimum weight and volume. One system has been successfully working in a major bank system mailroom for over 3 years with 99.3% functional availability and 0.01% false alarm rate. RAPTOR 4-Channel Bioassay System A small, portable 4-channel system for monitoring biological agents, toxins, explosives, and chemical contaminants. It performs user-defined, multi-step, assay protocols for monitoring fluorescently labeled chemical reactions occurring on the surface of each of the system's four disposable optical waveguide sensors. The system has been demonstrated to effectively detect several different biological agents, including Bacillus anthracis, Yersinia pestis, Brucella abortus, Francisella tularensis, Staphylococcal enterotoxin type-B (SEB), and Escherichia coli 0157:H7. Typical assay sensitivities are in the 1 ppb range. Up to 20 or more assays may be performed before discarding the system’s disposable assay coupon, reducing cost per assay. RAPTOR is one of only seven portable bio-identification products worldwide to receive U.S. Department of Homeland Security Certification under the U.S. Safety Act of 2002. AIR SAMPLERS SASS® 2300 Wetted-Wall Air Sampler The SASS 2300 is a portable multi-stage wetted-wall cyclone sampler that extracts particulates and water-soluble chemical vapors from air and transfers them to a liquid phase for later detection and analysis. It is highly automated and can be easily carried by a single person, and operate unattended for extended time periods. It is the only wet-type air sampler shown to efficiently collect virus-sized particles, and has been successfully used to detect the airborne viral pathogens that cause exotic Newcastle disease and foot-and-mouth disease, as well as some strains of avian flu virus. Furthermore, it is the only portable sampler technology to receive U.S. Department of Homeland Security Certification under the U.S. Safety Act of 2002. SASS®3100 Dry Air Sampler The SASS 3100 is a portable low power dry air sampler. The system collects particulates on a filter cartridge that is snapped onto the inlet of the device. It is particularly efficient at sampling small particles, with a 50% cut rate at 0.5 microns. The filters used in the cartridges are 44 mm in diameter, allowing them to be easily cultured in standard-sized Petri dishes. Alternatively, particulates may be extracted from the filters for assay analysis purposes using the SASS 3010 Particle Extractor. SASS®3010 Particle Extractor The SASS 3010 is used to extract and transfer to a small fluid volume, aerosols captured by Research International’s electret filters. The extraction process takes less than 60 seconds. Extraction efficiencies are typically in the range of 60 to 80%. SASS® 4000 Concentrator The SASS 4000 is a highly efficient, high-volume aerosol concentration device. The SASS 4000 Concentrator processes 3,600 LPM of ambient air, continuously transferring particulates from this primary air stream to a much smaller secondary airflow. As a result, the secondary flow can reach aerosol concentrations that are 5X to 15X higher than present in the incoming air. The concentrator therefore amplifies the ambient aerosol concentration, retaining most of the particles that were present in the incoming airflow in the secondary flow. SASS® 4100 Two-Stage Aerosol Collector The SASS 4100 Two-Stage Aerosol Collector builds upon the design of the SASS 4000 Concentrator by directing the secondary air through an electret bulk filter media from which the particles can later be extracted for detection and analysis. It has the highest flow capacity of any portable dry filter-based aerosol sampler
